Barry; Get a big screw driver or other lever. With the motor OFF, push
the lower pulley toward the rear of the car. Use a machinist's scale, or
rig a dial indiactor to the pulley face if you've got one. 
 Have someone push the clutch in while you watch and measure. If it
moves more than .008" or more, time to do the thrust washers. In my
case, the .080" movement indicated I going to need a new engine real
soon!
