morning ....

my '78 spit has an interesting electrical problem: the bundle of
the harness which comes through the firewall at the fuse block
has a blue/black wire which was fried, burnt completely through.
now there was another obvious fried wire at the ground point
on the drivers side of the battery compartment, but the wire
insulation at the ground point was gone. i', assuming that these
two go together, but i cannot find a blue/black in either of
the wiring diagrams i have (haynes and bently lookalike).

the other confusing point is the wiring to the starter solenoid
switch. here is how it is wired now:

top lug: 2 browns, red from battery, lightgreen/black
bottom lug: black to starter motor
  right lug: yellow/white, pink(red?)/white
  left lug: orange/white, red/white

i figure the correct wiring is the lightgreen should go to one
side of the windscreen washer pump, the other side of the pump
goes to ground, and the blue/black goes to ground? for some
reason i thought only black went to ground.

the blue/black goes to the seatbelt switch under the seat, and
the connector under the seat has been unplugged.

anyone solved this one before?
