Andrew,

I think the Mallory is a dual point distributor which will enhance
performance if your just wanting to stay with "points and condensor". I
have a TR-6 with 3 40 DCOE's and no vacuum advance. I kept my stock
distributor but switched to electronic ignition. Then I changed the
springs on the fly weights in the distributor. I found a combination of
springs that allowed the mechanical advance to open much sooner. This is
the ticket for unlocking more power. I personally would not use a point
and condensor ignition system anymore if I didn't have to. If you want
reliability, and more power, electronic is the only way to go. But if
you insist on maintaining a point system, then you should go with the
Mallory.

Good Luck
