The easiest and best way to remove steel insert rubber bushes(bushings) that
I've found is to drill down through the tube with a slightly larger drill bit,
the drill will go so far then the tube will break away from the rubber and
pop out the other side, leaving the rubber piece to be simply pushed out with
your fingers, it's worked EVERYTIME for me. I found this in Practical Classic
magazine when they rebuilt a Spitfire 1500 a year or so back.

I always use brake fluid to lubricate new bushes, as soap, washing up liquid
etc tends to contain SALT, and we get enough of that over here as it is!!!
I know someone will say that Brake Fluid will take the paint off but if you USE
the car I dare say a bit of paint missing from your suspension isn't gonna
break your heart, anyway, you can always wash the remainder off afterwards.
