Go for it. What's the worst that can happen? You may actually have to
get back under the car. Then again, maybe not.
You know, I have had a recent change of heart about using "Shellac"
based gasket compounds where holding back oil is concerned.
I have always had pretty good luck wuith "Indian Head". But, after using
this stuff, it dawned on me that I was using gasoline to clean up. So,
what happens to this stuff after the oil has accumulated some of the
carbons and other properties of the gasoline that's being burned????
Since I had to do the rear "seal" on the TR4, and had to replace the pan
gasket and valve cover gasket, all of which had been applied with Indian
Head, I'm glad I used blue RTV silicone to put these things back together.
Sort of makes you wonder doesn't it?
I'll be thinking of you tomorrow while I try to figure out if this TR4 has
slipped timing or if someone dumped sugar or sand in the fuel tank.
