Peter,
Have you had any luck diagnosing you problem? the
excessive oil use really points to large amounts of blowby... Or
a crankcase not properly vented. Have you noticed any leakage in
the vicinity of the breather tube?
I think your compression should be at least 150 PSI so the 130
you report really points to piston rings. Is the pressure
reasonably consistent in all cylinders (within 5lbs PSI)? Once
again it might be your break-in oil. If you used a synthetic e.g.
Mobil 1. The rings won't bed properly. I know this may be a dumb
question, but how about the head gasket. Was it properly torqued?
Have you retorqued it?
I have heard rumors of defective AE 5 ring pistons. They seem to fail
between the first and second rings. I think, though the defective
pistons were in the .040 over size, though. I don't want to panic you,
but you may want to check out the pistons if you've just
installed them to make sure they are ok.
