All I know is what I read. This is a reprint of the official
Standard-Triumph factory workshop manual. It shows that the engine
numbers for the early Herald 1200 and 12/50 start with GA, and that the
engines starting with GD are "1968 onwards". Whoever put together
those Spotter's Guides may have misinterpreted his source information,
as it is a little confusing the way it is laid out in the factory
manual. If you want, I could fax you the page.
