Fellow Thickos-

Apparently my last message didn't go out correctly, and there was no content
in the message. My apologies for bombing the list, but I will try again.

My question is this: I am in the process of building a Bugeye for vintage
racing, and have two engines at my disposal currently. One is a stock
1275cc and the other a 948cc race engine. Both are in need of a rebuild.
My original plan was to rebuild the stock 1275 first, put that in for the
first year and work the kinks out of the rest of the car prior to putting in
the real race engine. This plan does not seem to square very well with the
rules as I understand them from SVRA. I believe that the language is
something to the effect of "Bugeyes with other than 948cc engines are
acceptable on an exception basis." I guess that I am wondering how
"exceptional" are 1275 Bugeyes. I want to stay within the rules, and have
made every effort to maintain period correctness elsewhere, but wonder what
others are doing. Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

If it does turn out that I need to run the race engine to begin with, any
additional comments regarding components that should be used (cam, rods,
pistons, etc...) would be appreciated as well. I want to build for
reliablity first, and speed second. Thanks again.

Dave
