Jack,
First of all, I applaud the amount of effort required by folks like
yourself to make an event happen. It is mostly thankless work and not very
well compensated. I have been impressed by the various reports that have
come back from Mid-Ohio. Everyone that I have talked to has said it was a
definite improvement from last year. It's apparent that real efforts have
been made by the SVRA staff to improve the quality of the event.
Constructive criticism/counterpoint: While the fellow with the Cobra is
pleased to have a 4-day event, I really don't like them. It's difficult to sc
hedule an extra day away and it only adds to the expenses of a race weekend
(extra hotel, food etc.) It also seems to increase the entry fee. When it's
all said and done, I would prefer that the number of groups be paired down so
that there will be sufficient track time for everyone in the course of a
3-day event.
Reducing the number of groups means that SVRA has to resist the
temptation to be "all things to all people(entrants)". Perhaps certain
events would be open only to newer SVRA cars (historic stocks, IMSA GTP,
Formula 70's, etc.) and other events open only to older SVRA cars
(traditional groups 1, 2, 3, 4 & 6). Mind you this is purely off the cuff -
it's not like I have spent a lot of time formulating this "solution".

Keep up the good work! - Doug Meis.
