Apologies in advance in case I'm talking out of my backside, but does the
generator (dynamo) need a good bulb to work? Or put another way, if the
bulb dies does the generator fail to charge?
Somebody else. . .in between fitting ceiling coving.

generator that was rebuilt over 20 years and 7,000 miles ago.=C2=A0 The vo=
ltage regulator was converted to solid state eight or more years ago.=C2=A0=
Nothing apparent looking under the bonnet.=C2=A0 I was hoping it was just =
the fan belt. No such luck.=C2=A0 Generator, generator brushes?=C2=A0 I hav=
e a replacement generator, but I don't want to just start throwing part=
s at it until the light goes out.=C2=A0 Maybe try to just re-polarize the g=
enerator first?=C2=A0 I have a degree in mechanical design, not electrical.=
