The Sprite clutch release bearing was NOT designed for continuous application!
Holding the clutch pedal down at a light has NOTHING to do with being lazy.
It has everything to do with heat.
When the bearing is applied to the clutch cover it starts making heat. If
the application is momentary, the heat is slight. When held for extended
periods,
the bearing disintegrates.
At the dealership I must have replaced 50 of them, usually lady drivers.

I coached them to put the car in neutral at stoplights, and them leave the
clutch alone. They never had to come back.
