David,
I stand by what I said. I did not seek to offend you (I thought you were a
bit thicker-skinned, actually. Sorry. I guess not), but I have to call
such an outrageous statement what it really is. We all are probably guilty
of making bullshit statements, from time to time. Why get one's panties in
a bunch when we get called-out on it?
You are referring to stuff that might have (or might not have, depending on
how you perceive things) occurred 25 years ago. I do business with TRF on
an almost weekly basis and have been highly pleased with the service I get
from them. One of the best things about TRF is that I don't have to deal
with Moss (remember, most tune-up and electrical items for the MGB are the
same as for a Spridget).
Spridget parts? That will be the next line TRF takes on, but it's not as
simple as just listing a bunch of part numbers. First, they will have to
hire a Spridget guy to put it all together for them. Then, there's the
advertising, catalogs, etc. Also, they realize that a price war with Moss
could really put them in a financial bind (example: Moss could easily afford
to offer huge shipping discounts, along with slightly cheaper parts prices
for long enough to really do some damage), so they're cautious about just
how big of a market share they go after.

Bud,
YMMV. I happen to have bought a basket-case 1973 MGB back at the time when
Charles Runyon started stocking MGB parts. I bought some stuff from him.
That got me onto his mailing list, so I received his newsletters. Every
issue of that newsletter contained some text over his name that was
tantamount to an apology that he had to prostitute his company by carrying
MGB parts in order to stay in business. It was couched in prettier language
than that, but that was the message loud and clear. I do not consider that
"baseless". I do not apologize for my feelings in the matter, although I do
resent you telling me that it is "plain and total bullshit". You owe me an
apology, although I doubt that I will ever see it. BTW, has he started
stocking Spridget parts?
