'Driving' the Formula One British Grand Prix.
Banbury , wher this simulator is located, is only 17 miles from where I
live. If we take the 'old road' there , we drive past BMHT at Gaydon. My
wife and I had the privelidge a couple of years ago to go to Williams F1
teams factory at Grove near Oxford , (Banbury is about half way ) and we got
to use the simulator there. but sitting in a real F1 car. !
We also did some practice pit stop wheel changes again using genuine pit
equipment and on the prevuious years F1 car. It was quite an experience.
Made special for me as we used the Alan Jones conference room and they let
me hold Alans helmet from when he won the world championship , I have a
photo of me with the helmet and the trophy in the background. A rather
special day out. The museum of all the race cars including Ayrton Senna's ,
Nigel Mansell. Carlos Reuteman, Damon Hill , Rubens Barichello etc etc ,
and you can photograph and touch the cars . The trophy cabinet room with
thousands of pounds of silver and gold along with the drivers helmets is
truly something to behold , I think I have downloaded some photos on Flickr
- do a search for "Alan P Jones Williams " or something like that .
