Hello Bob,
Here's the update..
The tank is drained. I used the hole that the #8 screw was in,
not a syphon, not the fuel pump.
I jacked up the front of the car so that it sloped to the rear,
and jacked up the right side so that the hole in the back corner
was the low spot. The PERMATEX package says to use BRAKE-CLEAN to
remove all contamination around the hole. I sprayed it on, wiped
it off, then used emery paper to get down to CLEAN metal. Another
shot of BRAKE-CLEAN just to be sure was applied. I took off the
gas cap and now I'm waiting for ALL the moiture to stop weeping
around the hole. If it takes a day, so be it, but that's where I
am.
Now the question becomes.... should I go ahead and drop the tank
a little to try to find the wire to the sending unit so I can
make my gas gauge work? What's the procedure? Loosen the hose
clamps in the trunk, loosen the six nuts on the tank? Is that
it?
