Ditto.
In my case, I did "send the kids to park just in case", but invited my neighbor
over.

Subject: Re: [Spridgets] Gas Tank?
Chris,
I actually did this several years ago and called, who else, Frank. He
told me to:
1. drain gas
2. rinse thoroughly
3. fill about a 1/4 full will water
4. fire up the barby (if gas-fired start with low heat and then
increase gradually)(Mine is charcoal but I used wood)
5. allow to boil but do not boil off all the water as it may get too
hot and melt the "nylon" pick-up screen.
6. wearing mits, slosh the remaining water around and dump the
remaining water and allow to dry. The residual heat dried it quickly.
I then used a propane torch and went around the outside to drive off any
moisture lurking in the tank and partition seams.
Tank was clean and I could see where I needed to close some holes around
the filler neck. I sandblasted and painted and installed.
Send the kids to the park just in case. ;-)
