Let's say you're making, oh I don't know, a bleed air wing anti-ice system for
a Very-Light-Jet made in Brazil...you can mockup the entire system in a day.
While you can do this digitally with CATIA, SolidWorks, etc., if you are also
being graded (read: PAID) on maintainability and access to the hardware, this
touchy/feely version can save you a whole lot of money in design iterations.
You can also get a really good idea of flow characteristics like pressure drop
and flow distribution in a manifold.
