Thanks much for the inputs.
Moss says the knockoff mags only work on round wheel arch cars,
unfortunately.
I decided to educate myself a bit and remembered that Google is your friend.

Apparently there were many Rudge Whitworth wheels, however only a few are
common. Unfortunately, the spitfire uses a short hub wheel. Getting it to
tighten and stay tight, as john mentioned, looks like a problem.
