I agree with you. Neither the Jeep nor the Miata are British cars. In
the case of the Miata, however, there was a deliberate attempt to
clone some Brit DNA and build the 2-seat convertible sports car that
was no longer available from Britain. The Brits immediately upped the
ante with the MGRV8, but unfortunately they were merely posturing and
couldn't be bothered to make it for the USian market.

In any case, the market here was largely people who had previously
owned LBCs and they frequently refer to the Yada as the modern
interpretation of the British sports car. Take it as a compliment.
