| If the engine has never been started I would prime the oil pump before cranking 
it over. You could also lubricate the value mechanism and squirt some oil in 
each cylinder.

Have a rebuilt 1275cc that turns by hand.Obvious surface rust where  
the water pump goes.Was thinking of back flushing it with water before  
starting it up.Anything else that should be done prior to filling it  
with water,oil,and gas and cranking it up?
