Which might or might not mean a 1911-pattern pistol. Originally
Springfield manufactured a clone of the 1911, produced partially in
Brazil IIRC, but now they make other models in addition to the 1911 that
come in .45ACP.
For the most part you will only find "real" 1911's in the hands of
collectors, since they will be nearing 100 years old and have become
valuable. The military transitioned to the 1911A1 at some point in time
but again those have enough value to be mostly in the hands of
collectors. There are of course plenty of commercial versions of the
1911 pattern available on the market, more companies are producing them
now than ever before.
