I came across this wonderful video of David Vizard talking about air
filtration whereby he displays his appreciation for K & N filters. He also
talks about air filters, etc but makes no mention of foam filters.

He also mentions, in this video, that he did an experiment where he found
that an unfiltered race engine, running on asphalt, picked up a tea spoon
worth of road crap that ran through the engine. He points out how
destructive it is to run an engine without filtration on the carbs and then
goes on to give more information on the K & N filters unique way of
providing excellent breathing while at the same time doing an outstanding
job of filtering air for the intake.

He does not mention anything regarding foam filters . . which brings me to
my question. I have been using two foam filters on my OER side draft which
is the Japanese equivalent to the DCOE 45 (takes the same jets and emulsion
tubes, etc. . and I think it is a fantastic alternative to the Weber as it
also allows you to adjust the float bowl height as well as the accel pump).

Anyhow. . I would like opinion on whether or not my foam filters are doing a
decent job of filtering air for my car? I do plan to upgrade with K & N's.
. yet at the same time I have put a good amount of miles using the foam
filters and wonder if I have caused uneccessary harm to my motor?

(I will take my answers off the air)

Thank you so much for all the previous help I have received from the list.
. it is so much appreciated!
