I have a 1969 Datsun truck (L521) in stock configuration with 90 wt oil in
the 4-speed trans. The heat coming thru either an open shift boot hole or
holes in the footwell become oppressive during the summer months, any speed.

Welcome to the club, Linda. I too am confused by all the answers. I guess
what
I really want to know is:
Do others that have a Datsun transmission have this problem?
If not, what oil are you using?
Will the heavier oil keep it cooler?
I don't want an oil cooler and electric pump set up to make this work...
Engine
temp was fine while driving, so heat transfer shouldn't be an issue. I
appreciate all the knowledge transfer, but it gets overwhelming
sometimes....
