Same reason why driving to work this perfect weather morning that my exhaust
dropped through its flange. Bolts still attached, looks like a weld broke.
It decided to do it at a stop light actually.

I conscientiously reported failures and successes, Yes, Ed, I read the
manuals that said I must be scrupulously clean when rebuilding a hub. I
would even have sacrificed a virgin in the Hawaiian manner, if I could have
found one. (This is no longer easy, even in a Bugeye.)
So why did the outer bearing fall out onto the dirt instead of the rug I had
carefully placed for that purpose?
