Howard,
The Mr. Gasket pump is a "pusher" type pump. It does not like to pull
fuel from a long distance, so that is your problem. I use the same pump on my
'71, only it is mounted under the car behind the passenger seat (where the
stock electric fuel pump is mounted on cars later than your BE) Works great
there.

Subject: [Spridgets] Bugeye - Electric Fuel Pump Question
On
my Bugeye, I have a Mr. Gasket electric fuel pump, mounted on top of the
left
front fender well, adjacent to the carbs. After sitting dormant for a
few
weeks, the pump appears to lose it's prime. Would I have better
success of
the pump staying primed if I were relocate it to the rear, adjacent to
the
fuel tank, making it a pusher instead of a sucker?
