Linda,
I would recommend starting with some more basic books such as "How to
Blueprint a 4 Cyl Short block" by Des Hammill and a book such as "The Engine
Builder's handbook" by Tom Monroe.
My Haynes manual has a fairly decent (albeit short) chapter on disassembling
and reassembling the motor.
While Vizard's book has TONS of useful information that is specific to the
A-series engine it will only make you want to spend more money (don't ask me
how I know) and doesn't cover the very basics of rebuilding a motor. It is
definitely a good place to start if you want to make your engine more
powerful, higher revving, or more economical.
Hal
