Usually just fatigue, and they can be re-arched and re-tempered. Coil
springs can be stretched and re-tempered.
It can also be that a leaf has broken; this is sometimes hard to spot unless
you take them apart. ...bill in oregon

Speaking of springs, my driver's side rear sags an inch or two, which I have
read is common. Is that just fatigue, or does it signal some more serious
problem?
