He stopped by tonight and saw the finished car and I asked him to drive
it since we worked out some of the bugs.
He drove around the neighborhood with me in the car, he drives like a,
uh, retired priest, yeah, that's how he drives. ;)
So after a bit, I took the wheel and drove it like a Sprite, we tooled
down the highway for a bit, I leaned into circles near my house
And he said he would never drive it *that fast*. I said I only hit 50
mph on the highway, I mean it still has no registration or insurance.
Anyway, he sure is grateful, he can't thank us all enough and he is
going to ask his sister to show him how to work this new email thing so
he can drop a note to all involved.
I wouldn't count on an email from Father Jack personally, not for some
time anyway.
Tomorrow the Holy Sprite goes to the upholstery shop to get it's tonneau
cover made and fitted.
Head gasket and valve guides are ordered, the horn quit, (ground issue)
and I did not get to that dash indicator that doesn't work when the
headlights are on yet. But I did fix the E brake, the paw on the handle
ratchet was upside down. Thanks guys! I had to pull the seat and tracks
out to fix that.
I did weld that E brake bracket at the tunnel so it doesn't flex
anymore, and I tack welded the custom exhaust>tranny bracket.
An offset trunion bushing is on it's way from a list member to fix that
camber problem and the Sprite should be bug free once these minor issues
are taken care of.
