Hello Mike/Donna,
NOT gold PAINTED. GOLD PLATED. This was in the day BEFORE
electroplate became the way that it was done and they had genuine
english goldsmiths (only those having served eight year
apprenticeships in the craft) molding genuine 18 carat gold to
the arrows. the arrows were cast in such a manner that the arrow
head was slightly thinner than the rest (except the feather part,
also in REAL GOLD) so that when the gold plating was attached
there was NO change in the thickness and the seam was
indiscernible. Most of these originals have long since been
replaced as people found out about the REAL GOLD and stripped it
from the arrows, necessitating replacement and causing confusion
to this day about what was original, Gold or Silver. As Peter C.
says this came only on the Olde English White cars, which were
the first run from the factory.
