I'll guess it is oil running down the valve stems into the engine. ...bill

Subject: [Spridgets] asking for smoking Engne advice
I have the 1275 (12CC DAH) in 'The Beast' running reasonably well... with an
irritating minor problem ;^(
If I start the engine every day the problem doesn't happen...
But if I wait for 4 or 5 days and then start it, it blows smoke ( blue smoke
- oil) quite a
lot until it gets up to temperature -- about 5-7 minutes (temp here is
hanging arounf
100F.
However, once it gets hot, the problem goes away.
I have measured 125+ psi in all cylinders when cold -- no oil put in plug
holes.
Cam timing, dizzy timing, valve lash, carb mixture are all set to spec.
Good color on spark plugs no black flecks from exhaust.
No oil in water, no water in oil.
Oil Cold idle is 50 psi, Hot idle is 35 psi
Water temp sits just below the "N" mark - but this is not the original dual
guage... it is
one I had spare from when I had my Jag MK IX
I do have a set of Viton valve stem seals that I can fit if this is a
possible source of
the problem.
Suggestions for a possible problem solution - on or off list - will be
welcomed
TIA...
