I'm not part of the racer crowd.  I generally associate hood pins with older 
cars that someone is part way through souping up. :)  But, that's my first 
impression and then I move on.

I think that my preference would be to go for a smoother look, if I was 
going that way.  ( no seams, no pins on top.  Maybe those whatmacallum 
(dzus?) fasteners on the lower rear of the front fenders. )  This bonnet 
also had seams, I think.

There is something comforting about seeing those hood pins. IF you attached
them properly, you can be reasonably sure that $1400 worth of fiberglass is
not about to break your windshield just now. Plus, much of Speedwell's line
addresses the racer crowd and hood pins tend to make it look racier, don't
they?
