I have a bullet mirror on the door of my 67, same door as a 79.
I just glued 2 washers under the lower edge of the mirror base to jack 
it up just enough so it works.
I think I ground down the outer edge of the washers so they were flat, 
you can not see them. Quick, easy, but a tapered piece of aluminum would 
be better but I was in a hurry.
