Might I suggest a slight variation to your route? The mileage will be
pretty much the same, and you will be driving on a wonderful Spridget
road with beautiful scenery. At Mountain Home, ID, turn south on ID
51. At the Nevada border it becomes NV 226, which will lead you
directly into Elko. I can provide a stopover with lodging for up to 4
people, more if they don't mind setting up the twin beds in the motor
home. As an alternative, we have motels starting at $25 a night. If
you choose the motel route, I would suggest the Stockmen's Hotel &
Casino, which is clean, comfortable, safe, has a 24 hour coffee shop
with good food, and 24 hour security to keep an eye on your cars.
From Elko, you are on I-80, which leads you past the Bonneville Salt
Flats to Salt Lake City, where you can pick up your planned route. As
you go through Nebraska, I would suggest a dinner stop in Sidney. I
don't remember the name of the restaurant, but it is almost directly
across from the Super 8 Motel, and offers a very interesting menu,
including frog legs and Rocky Mountain Oysters.
