67 Sprite, everything new and no bent frame.
Steering rack is centered and the tie rod ends are screwed on 15 full
turns each which has always worked for me for getting the toe in dead on
or damn close.
So tonight I checked the toe in, it is 1.75" (1-3/4") toed OUT
when sitting on the floor. Ah, could be 1/2 the camber problem, but when
I jack up the car and recheck the toe in, it's off (out) by 3/8".
Or 1/2" out of whack if I were to set it 1/8 toed in.
So does jacking up the front of a Spridget change the front end geometry
by an inch and a half?
Both wheels are tight, new bearings and I checked them after a drive and
could not get them any tighter. So it's not the bearings, nor the hubs.
It's a bit too cold to be laying on the concrete floor tonight so I'll
go mess with sticking small speedometer guts in a large housing and
stick some heat shrink tubing over the high beam indicator tube so the
dash illumination stops making me think the high beams are on.
Yeah, that little plastic or rubber sleeve that disintegrates with age
is an easy fix with a short piece of heat shrink.
