Some of those areas denuded of vegetation in the recent fires are now being
ravaged by landslides and floods. People in the canyons of Orange County are
under mandatory evacuation orders. It now appears that some of those houses
that survived the fires will be lost in the current, more localized personal
disasters. This, however, has been expected, for landslides and floods always
follow the fires.
