Drive it as you would normally from day one. Babying it for X number of miles may build a ridge on the top of the cylinders. Once you rev it up, the pistons expand, hit that ridge and snap off the top ring. (in theory) I always break in a motor for a good 20 minutes, change the oil and drive it like I stole it. Retorque the head, adjust the valves and change the oil again at 500 miles. -- Frank Clarici Toms River, NJ |
