| 12 Volts is ideal for a battery at rest. A good charging system should put out around 13-15 volts when running with accessories on. What kind of system are you using? Generator? Alternator? I had enough trouble with my last '73 Midget and installed a GM alternator which is cheaper and better but not OE. It sounds as if you have a flaky diode which can be repaired easily enough. |
