A crankshaft to wipe out?
Jr's Mini, 1274 A+ engine, .60 over.
We had the crank turned because it was wiped out when he bought the
engine. 5 psi oil pressure. So out with the crank and off to the machinist.
With his constant overheating problem and maybe 200 miles on the engine,
he decided to search for another engine.
So out with this one and he took it apart to find the mains wiped out
and the crank wiped out.
It looks like somebody dumped a qt of sand in the engine but there is no
sand in it.
Rod bearings look OK, used but still silver. Maiuns are scored and
chunked out. Crank is full of grooves and ridges too.
It has been cut to .30 over already so it's an anchor now.
Thrust washers are fine, just the mains.
Any ideas? And would this cause it to run beyond hot? Or dit the beyond
hot cause the crank to wipe out?
