On my bare cyclinder head, it was as you described, pretty much corroded to
nothing exposed out of the bottom. Needed a torch and stubby easy-out to get
it removed. Had to borrow the stubby easy-out as the one I had would hit the
inside of the water passage before rotating what was left inside the head.
Head was heated to a dull red color before it would rotate out.
