If Lotus prices have increased over the past year, it certainly isn't due
to exchange rates.
The British Pound has actually depreciated against the US Dollar by about
10% in the past year. The 12 month high for the Pound was about $1.92 in
March of '05 and today's rate is $1.74. Just in the last couple of weeks
interest rates in the US have exceeded those in Britain, which typically
means that the Pound will weaken further. This means that Lotus prices
should actually have decreased by 10% over the past year, everything else
being equal.
The increase in Lotus prices must therefore mean a vast conspiracy of
world-wide Lotus producers to restrict supply in order to maintain prices
at an artificially high level. We are suffering huge increases in
prices, yet we read about production being scaled back. Obviously Lotus
producers are manipulating prices so they will reap large windfall
profits at our expense. We ought to introduce legislation to break up
this Lotus cartel so we can pay the real price of a Lotus and not the
artificially inflated prices. We should also look for alternative sports
cars to reduce our dependency on Lotuses.
We fought World War II and paid to rebuild Britain so they could send us
British cars, then we end up paying more for Lotuses!! It is common
knowledge that George Bush is great friends with Tony Blair and that Tony
Blair has been known to drive cars. Obviously proof of a conspiracy.
