On my 62 Mk2, I am tearing down one of the seats (stripping and painting the
frame and backrest. Actually just got as far as the frame. Going to need both
bases for the lower cushions though, pretty common I think, unless you like
making them out of plywood (NOT!).
On the backrest need a little advice. I have the cover off, and there are new
covers on the way, and the "foam" cushions. The seats that I had to buy are
original MK1 Midget. I'm wondering if I'm better off saving the original
"stuffing" over on the part that curves down the sides or trying to replace
it? It's made out of that strange "horsehair" sort of stuff. Also on the edges
and across the back of the backrest there is a felt type of lining, and am
imagining I'll be better of just leaving it alone and recovering it. Some
areas under the backrest I want to derust and paint since it'd be easy to do
it now.
