to mount the elec fan in front and keep the belt driven fan in place. Is
this wise, or is it a belt and suspenders move? Thanks everyone!

I took the original fan off and installed an electric fan in front of the
radiator on my Lotus Seven. Better cooling from the aftermarket fan, and I
gained a couple of hp from the engine. That's what I want to believe
anyways! Probably will extend the life of the water pump bearings too - not
a big deal on the Spridget, but it is on a Twin Cam. I have no overheating
problem even in the So Cal August heat, and that's with the original
radiator. I have a manual override switch for the thermostatically
controlled fan, just in case.
