your adjustment procedure for the rear brakes is accurate.

As for front brakes absorbing more than
rear ones....this is true, load transfer from
rear to front on deceleration notwithstanding, despite the fact 
brake linings on shoes are nowhere near as thick as they used to be in any 
event. :)
