Hello Timothy,
The tires might be worth saving if they are to be used for show
ONLY. .. FORD has recently come out and said to replace any
tire on their vehicles that is more than 7 years old, even if
they show now signs of wear... .. ! good advice. what happens
is that the polymers in the tires "breath". that is to say, the
rubber gets old, and brittle over time, making them unsafe ...
i have heard of some judges even going so far as to mark DOWN
cars in concours judging that had original tires (like uniroyal
tigerpaws on 60's muscle cars) because they were unsafe. ..
