The next couple of what I'm sure will be MANY questions... For a Spitfire 1147 racing engine; First - "Jahns" brand forged (and domed) pistons - what piston to cylinder wall clearance should I run? The engine they came out of is bored for .012 inch of clearance. Another "spare" block would give me about .006 inch of room. I know 12 has to be too much space, but is 6 also too much or is it about right? I have spare stock blocks that I can use if necessary. Second - do you Spitfire guys drill out the oil journal that feeds #2 and #3 rod bearings? To what size? Joe Guinan Fremont, NE |
