Good article in the last Hot Rod mag. (Nov 04) on home alignment with a
four jack stands, two pieces of conduit and some string. Breifly, roll
the car forward on a on a level surface and center the steering wheel.
Put a jack stand at all four corners. Lay the conduit on the stands
across front and back. (Drill holes and drop a screwdriver or bolt
through into the jack stand to hold them. Find the center of the car and
transfer to the conduit. Measure equal amounts outward on the conduit
past the edges of the tires. Run a taught string from front conduit to
back on both sides Drill holes in the conduit for the string to make a
reusable fixture). You should now have a parallel set of strings running
parallel to the centerline of the car. Measure from the string to the
leading and trailing edge of the rim in question and check individual
wheel alignment as well as the rear wheels or chassis components. They
also cover how to measure and turn the front wheels to determine camber
and caster and make turn plates or level the surface for measuring. They
also cover corner weights and a few other useful items. Back issues

No financial intrests, yakety shmackety....just a good article worth
passing along.
