I know we have a lot of talent on this list, not just about Spridgets but
most things. So o o, I got a question for folks that may know something
about Diesel Fuel.
I have a small sailboat with a little one cylinder diesel engine. The boat
has a 16 gallon fuel tank (nearly 400 mile range) I keep it full to try to
reduce the moisture content in the fuel. The problem is that I only burn
about 5 or 6 gallons a year and the rest of the fuel sits in the tank. I
use anti-fungal and anti-gel additives but I wonder if there is something
else I need to do. I did put a CAV filter separator on it 10 years or so
ago. Would there be any advantage or harm to fill it up with Kerosene
instead of #2 Diesel? I am thinking it may be a little more stable and
perhaps last longer..... I can't seem to find anything about running in the
Yanmar engine manual. Any of you chemists want to offer an opinion?
