Hello Frank, Whew! dodged a bullet there... while i admit to not having driven a 1275, i do LOVE the 1098. it fits the kind of driving i do... it'll pull in 5th gear from 30 mph.. (about 1800 rpm) .. tons of low end torque... i DO run out of steam in 5th at about 75 (4000 rpm) and can go faster in 4th than 5th, but for all around flexibility the 1098 is great! and soooo smoooth too...
