Well, after disassembling my clutch hydraulics (what a PITA to get the
clutch M/C out!), I found that the piston in the master cylinder would
stick down in the bore. I could repeat this on the bench, and it
explained why I'd progressively get more pedal freeplay as I drove, and
then the clutch would magically fix itself overnight. It also explains
why pumping helped very little.
I put in the spare master I rebuilt yesterday, and what a difference!
Smooth action, and consistent repeatable operation. The catch point is a
bit low, but I think I still have a little air in the system. A nother
bleed will take care of that!
Next up, wheel bearings, and front springs. But not before working on
the kitchen this weekend (wallpaper, etc.).
