The 68 STILL burns oil. From
cold, the first 5 miles are
just little puffs, then it
goes into James Bond mode. Not
full time, it comes and goes.
I tried our shop mechanics
idea to determine if the rings
are seated. I have the head
off, so I put 1" of oil on top
of each piston. The oil has
not dropped hardly at all in 1
1/2 hours. I can tell from the
head, which chambers were
burning oil, and the one that
was not, has the most
significant amount of seepage,
almost 1/8", the others are
around 1/16th.
I have replaced the PCV
diaphragm, THANK YOU AGAIN
FRANK AND ELIZABETH!! and that
is not the issue. I am now
going to put new stem seals on
the intake valves. If ED WOULD
ANSWER HIS PHONE MESSAGES, or
is another list vendor could
call me about selling me JUST
the stem seals, please do.
1-800-366-8001. OR if someone
knows another part that will
work in this application that
I could get locally, it is for
a 1275.
The ONLY other option that has
been suggested was that
perhaps the rocker assembly is
worn. How does one TELL if it
is worn. I have a butt load of
them to choose from, I just
can't tell a good one from a
bad one.
I am going to a Sorta show
Saturday night
(www.sortaweb.com) and would
LOVE to drive the Sprite up to
the show. I have told the guys
about the Sprite for years,
and have yet to take it to a
show. I have a new front
suspension, a rebuilt motor,
and I would love to road trip
this little guy.
PLEASE HELP!!!
TIA,
Tequila Brad
