When I was a kid driving my stock BE and/or MGA's, I got pulled over all
the
time for "spot checks". My crimes at the
time consisted of simply "being there"..
Same town years later...I am 40 and
driving a '74 Spridget...
..this car was MAACO metallic blue with
double white racing stripes, rollbar, lowered, "60" series tires,
flares, no
bumpers and blacked out chrome
(including windshield) otherwise. And
with 2" exhaust and Cherry Bomb, the
sound did the external appearance justice
and did the Vizardized 1340 proud as
well. "Hot Rod" Spridget in all respects.
No matter how I drove it or how much
noise it made (scads!!), "they" always
manage to look the other way. Only
exception was a "radar trap" speeding
summons and stop for apparent DWI
which was cleared up when the officer
"tested" the car's suspension ("sport"
springs teamed with KYB Gas-Adjust
shocks....no Viagra required for
"stiffness", here!:)..............I was
weaving around rough spots in the road! :)
